Glazing - Glass & Metal Technicians

This program teaches architectural glass and medal technicians. These technicians learn all the fundamentals of installing and replacing glass in storefronts, windows, doors, hardware, welding, mirrors, decorative glass installation, glass handrails, as well as caulking and sealing.

The apprenticeship program is earn while you learn, and every participant in the program will have a job.

As an apprentice, you will take part in classroom instruction as well as on the job training. At least one (or more) journeyman worker will supervise each apprentice while working on the job to instruct them.

GLAZIER RATE INCREASE SCHEDULE

60%: 0-1000 OJT and less than 80 Class Hours

70%: 1001 OJT and in excess of 80 Class Hours

75%: 2001 OJT and in excess of 152 Class Hours

80%: 3001 OJT and in excess of 224 Class Hours

85%: 4001 OJT and in excess of 296 Class Hours

90%: 5001 OJT and in excess of 368 Class Hours

To Graduate: 6000 OJT and at least 480 Class Hours

CONTINUING EDUCATION

All members of the IUPAT are eligible to pursue advanced career training and even college credits in our program. The Finishing Trades Institute offers continuing education programs for its members that allow them to earn college credits toward an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
